Liam habla de Pretty Green en entrevista exclusiva para SCYHO

Myself: Hi Liam, How are you?

Liam: Good man, I've had a bit of the flu since them Manchester gigs, it was just like in a field and that. I was a bit run down, better now man.

Myself: How did you get the idea to start up Pretty Green?

Liam: In the 90's people were asking me like to do clothes and put my name to clothes, but I think putting your name to it, with your name on clothes is a bit shit and that. So sitting down by the pool one day.... having a couple of beers, Steve said do you fancy doing a clothing line I said well you know I will see man. And he sort of knew a few people and that was it, over a couple of beers really, and I thought let's go for it...

Myself: So how long did it take from when you first decided to do it?

Liam: November wasn't it Steve?

Steve (PRETTY GREEN): End of November we sat down, agreed it and started to get the ball rolling, sat by a pool:

Liam: Obviously we got the name, it's a Jam thing and that. It's not mainly a Jam thing, but it is yeah, people will go its a Jam thing a mod thing. We started sitting down and designing the logo based on the shape of this pendant I got here like. I wanted it to be round, and I wanted it sort of like Pretty Green put into that and we did, and we messed around with it a bit and away we went.

Steve: There are some powerful lyrics in the song Pretty Green " and they didn't teach me that in school, its something that I've learnt on my own" which are poignant and also had influence on the name...

Myself: How big was your involvement with the designing of the clothes and all the materials used?

Liam: Designing of the clothes, I'm still on it man, I'm still doing it now. T-shirts I've got T-shirts at home, I don't like thick tshirts these are super fine. So I was involved with that, manufacturers were bringing tshirts that were like tour tshirts, I'm thinking I'm not having that shit... big thick tshirts, nah... So I'm into it, the clothes man, If it don't fit right, or feel right on me, it's going back.

Myself: So the Quality is really important to you then?

Liam: Without a doubt, Without a doubt. I mean it all started with the shoes you know. I mean the desert boots, and I hate pointy shoes, I wanted to bring back the square toes ones, but a bit more not so pointy like the Clark's ones. Definitely I'm mad on it....

Myself: So the packaging is obviously really important to you as well?

Liam: Without a doubt man, I mean Nick Holland came up with that idea, the guy I'm doing the clothes with, and it's important, I would not want to put it out any other way. I got to give him the dues on that.

Myself: Is it true that each colour for the the collection will only be available for a limited time?

Liam: What is the scoop with that Steve?

Steve: This is an online launch capsule collection, these colours are only going to be available up until September. Come October it's a new colour wave, this is purely for the launch...

Myself: And then they will be gone, and then there will be new ones.

Liam: There will be a best sellers area, so If a certain colour proves very popular, the one that people really like all the time, that will stay...

Myself: Like A Manchester City blue?

Liam: We haven't done that yet we got some more ideas for jumpers and that I think coming out in Manchester in October. I don't want to alienate anyone either, i just don't want city fans to buy them, I want everyone to buy them and get involved too... know what I mean? ..

Myself: Do you plan to sell the clothes on the high street, or are you going to leave it to being online?

Liam: Doing the online thing at the moment, I think in October, end of October it's going into Selfridges in the UK. Is that right?

Steve: We go into Selfridges in the UK mid October, we are currently looking at countries in South America, United States, Canada, Japan, Italy, Germany, Sweden, France, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, Korea, China, Russia and Denmark. Liam will also visit countries for in-store appearances to promote the brand...

Myself: Will the ones in the stores be different to the ones online or will it just be sort of the same collection?

Steve: Different, it's what we are calling the premier collection. The reason we started with online was so everyone can access it because Liam's popularity is worldwide. We didn't want to open a store in England and alienate every one else around the planet, this way everyone gets a opportunity to wear Pretty Green. The strategy for stores has always been in place as the demand is there.

Liam: We have already got other stuff for the stores already, and we have been working on that for the last like 4 month's, and it's good!

Myself: Are you thinking of bringing anything out with your picture on?

Liam: Maybe man, I don't mind if that would happen, we will have to see what the pictures like. I wanna steer clear of my boat race it's been around to much.

Myself: Are you thinking of bringing out any accessories like sunglasses, belts?

Liam: Yeah we are doing everything man, we are going to cane it. We will see how it goes with the clothes first. We have got this leather, round sofa, that opens up, made the other day A Pretty Green one, From Italy shaped like a target with the Pretty Green logo in the middle, and it's the fucking nuts man.

Myself: Would you think about doing a woman's range, I don't know maybe ask Nicole for some input?

Liam: Yeah We'll see man, we'll see, I don't want to start getting into any of that just yet.... she can design a Parker or something, I don't know about girls clothes man, I like it when girls dress pretty fucking scally anyway know what I mean? I don't do stiletto's and shit. We will see, well see man...

Myself: Whats your favourite item from the range and why?

Liam: Mine is the Parka because you can't get them anymore, because everyone makes fancy Parker's that cost about £900 quid and just look like fucking, there shit. This one is like old vintage stuff, so it's my favourite, the tshirts and the scarfs are good and the polo necks we got coming out soon are amazing. The desert boots obviously as you cant fucking get them like that.

Myself: So What do the other members of the band think about the clothing range?

Liam: Everybody buzzing off it, I've just given Noel his free bit now, whether he wears it or not, or he throws it in the bin, we'll wait see won't we.

Myself: So they had them free they didn't have to pay?

Liam: Yes, I said he wasn't getting any but, you got to give him something, everyone is loving it though...

Myself: In the video you did in Brighton for the Pretty Green launch, did you get to ride the bike that was used in Quadrophenia or did you only get to pose on it?

Liam: I did, I rode the Jimmy one not the Sting one didn't ride that one but the Jimmy one yeah...

Myself: So the song Man Of Misery, was that written especially for the launch of Pretty Green?

Liam: No I wrote it a couple of years ago, then we used that Pop Levi song, then we needed a different song to use on the new film, I thought I'm not giving him any more fucking credit cause he got a bit fresh and whatever with the money so i thought fuck that, I've got this song lying around, you know, I don't think it will go on Oasis stuff and fuck it why not, it's only a demo but it seemed to fit the mood.

Myself: Will you plan to release it as a promotional thing?

Liam: I doubt it man, I reckon it will stay where it is until maybe our kid hears it, and likes it, and thinks he can tart it up and it could go on a Oasis record, I suppose then, but I no I doubt it man...

Myself: Your passion is for music and clothes, haircuts must come into it. What's your favourite hair cut you have had over the years?

Liam: That I've had... I don't know I've liked them all or I wouldn't have fucking had them but just the normal one, the normal fucking one, the feathery normal one, I don't know if there is a name for it but I like them all. I like to change it every now and again. I like the bowl cut man, that was a couple of months ago it was a bit ahead of it's time. I like them all otherwise I wouldn't have got them done.

Myself: So how is the tour going now so far after what happened in Manchester?

Liam: Excellent, but I thought about Manchester, after the three gigs when you look back at it on the first night it was fucking rubbish. Everyone was fucking flapping and stuff. I don't think anyone should be waiting about for 40 minutes in the fucking cold for a band this size... If it happens in a fucking club then shit happens. Where we are at it shouldn't be happening. So someone needed to be fucking told the gigs fucking free now. I don't know who's pocket it is coming out of but it ain't mine. Anyway after that and the next two gigs they went off alright and were good, I enjoyed them. I actually preferred the fucking first one to be honest, I like it when shit happens at Oasis gigs otherwise it's the same gig really.

Myself: We went to Manchester when the barrier cracked

Liam: Yes I like shit like that, as long as noone dies or gets hurt or gets the fucking fever cause there to,cold. I like it when shit happens like that because I think once you have seen Oasis once, you have sort of seen we don't really do that much know what I mean.

Myself: So if Noel decides now to take five years off are you going to release music on your own or focus on fashion?

Liam: I'm going to get my fucking tshirts from back off him. I wouldn't call it fashion man, I hate every one going on about fashion. I fucking hate fashion. Im not doing fashion, Im just doing the clothes that I dig and that I want to wear, but I'm not going to take five years off I'll probably do this or do music, cause I'm in Oasis and that's the way it goes. I don't want to do anything else but I suppose I will do a bit of this and chill at home know what I mean?.

Myself: Do you enjoy coming to Wales and playing in Cardiff?

Liam: I do when you get in for nowt Yeah, I don't know about that fucking paying to get in, but we got in tonight for nowt...

Myself: Was that over the bridge?

Liam: Yes, we were stuck in traffic and the police came and helped us in so it was nice, we had our money ready and everything but they just went your alright so Miracles do happen.

Myself: What do you think of the Welsh Music Scene?

Liam: Is there One?

Myself: We got Duffy, Tom Jones, The Peth..

Liam: Not heard the fucking Peth man I got here late, I like Rhys, I like The Super Furry Animals and all that stuff, Stereophonics are cool, Manic Street Preachers. Duffy she was alright till she opened her mouth, the musics alright....know what I mean till she done that fucking stupid advert and things like that.

Myself: I don't like that advert

Liam: It's fucking ridiculous.

Myself: Have you ever thought about telling your story in a autobiography?

Liam: No

Myself: It'd be a interesting read

Liam: Yeah not for me would it, it would fucking bore the arse of me. I suppose it would be, you never know, who knows man it depends how fucking skint I am.

Myself: So out of all the great songs you have written whats you favourite?

Liam: I've written or the band Oasis you mean?

Myself: You

Liam: Me, I suppose it's gotta be 'Out Of Time' that's pretty up there...or 'Songbird' (as Nicole will kill me).

Los productos que vemos en la pagina www.prettygreen.com que estan actualmente en venta son de un estandar bastante alto.

Las camisetas fueron hechas de algodon de la mas alta calidad que he visto. Cuando hice un comentario acerca de lo fino del material Liam dijo: "Me asegure que fuera hecho de Algodon Egipcio y que los fans no pagaran los £90-100 de siempre que otras compañias cobran por algo similar.

El bordado en la camiseta es tambien de alta calidad
"Si compras una camiseta de diseñador no querrias que el logo se cayera despues de lavarse y lavarse un par de veces, Escogi entre 19 camisetas diferente antes de encontrar la que me gustaba".

Empaque de los productos es muy impresionante tambien. Un gran detalle se le ha dado a cada cosa. Paul Weller, Ricky Hatton, Kasabian, Steve Cradock y Mani de Los Stone Roses todos tienen ropa de Pretty Green, la camiseta que Liam me dio anteriormente es de la misma serie que Gem Y Liam usaron en el concierto en Cardiff esa noche.

Aqui esta la entrevista exclusiva con Liam del viernes...

Louise: Hola Liam, como estas?
Liam: Bien, Tuve un poco de resfriado desde los conciertos en Manchester, por que fue en un campo y eso, Estuve un poco a la baja pero ya estoy mejor ahora.

L: Como tuviste la idea de empezar Pretty Green?
Liam: En los noventas la gente me preguntaba si me gustaria hacer ropa y poner mi nombre en ella, pero pense que ponerle nombre a eso, con tu nombre en la ropa es un poco mierda y eso. Entonces estando sentado a lado de la alberca, tomando un par de cervezas, Steve me dijo te gustaria hacer una linea de ropa. Yo dije bueno ya veremos. Y el conocia a cierta gente y asi fue, con un par de cervezas realmente y pense vamos a hacerlo.

L: Entonces cuanto tiempo paso desde el momento que dicidiste hacerlo?
Liam: Fue en noviembre no, steve?

Steve (PRETTY GREEN): A Finales de Noviembre nos sentamos, nos pusimos de acuerdo y dejamos que la bola rodara, sentados en la alberca.

Liam: Obviamente teniamos el nombre, Es algo de The Jam y eso. No es principalmente eso, pero si.. Empezamos sentandonos y diseñando el logo basandonos en la forma de este colgante que tengo aqui. Queria que fuese redondo y queria que Pretty Green estuviera dentro y eso hicimos y jugamos un poco con eso y con eso seguimos.

Steve: Hay unas letras muy poderosas en la cancion Pretty Green " and they didn't teach me that in school, its something that I've learnt on my own" que es bastante profundo y tambien tuvo influencia en el nombre...

L: Cual fue tu participacion en cuanto al diseño de la ropa y todos los materiales usados?
Liam: El diseño de la ropa, todavia estoy en eso, todavia lo hago ahora. Las camisetas, tengo camisetas en mi casa, no me gustan las camisetas gruesas, estas estan super finas. Estuve involucrado en eso, los manofactureros traian camisetas que eran como las de la gira, Y pense, no voy a usar esa mierda... camisetas grandes y gruesas naah... Entonces si estoy en eso, la ropa, si no me queda o no se siente bien, va de regreso.

L: Entonces la calidad es realmente importante para ti, entonces?
Liam: Sin duda alguna, sin duda alguna. Digo todo empezo con los zapatos sabes. Las botas de desierto y odio los zapatos punteados, queria traer de vuelta los de punta cuadrada. Pero un poco no tan punteagudos como los Clark, definitivamente no me gustan...

L: Entonces el empaque es tambien muy importante para ti obviamente...?
Liam: Sin duda alguna, digo Nick Holland, se le ocurrio esa idea, el tipo con el que hago la ropa, y es importante, no me gustara ponerla de ninguna otra manera. Tengo que darle los creditos por eso.

L: Es verdad que cada color para la coleccion solo estara disponible por tiempo limitado?
Liam: Cual es la primicia de eso Steve?

Steve: Esto es una coleccion lanzada por internet, estos colores, solamente estaran disponibles hasta septiembre. En octubre sera una nueva linea de colores, estos son solamente por el lanzamiento.

L: Y entonces estos se iran, y despues habra nuevos colores.
Liam: Estara el area de los mejor vendidos, entonces si algun color se mantiene muy popular, ese que a la gente realmente le gusta todo el tiempo, ese se quedara...

L: Como un azul del Manchester City?
Liam: No hemos hecho eso aun, tenemos mas ideas para Jerseys y eso. Creo que saldran en Manchester en octubre. No quiero excluir a nadie tampoco, solo que no quiero que solo los fans del City compren los productos quiero que todo el mundo lo haga y que se involucren en ellos tambien, sabes a lo que me refiero?...

L: Planeas vender la ropa en las calles principales, o lo dejaras que sea por internet?...
Liam: Haremos lo de internet por el momento, creo que en octubre, finales de octubre estara en Selfridges en el Reino Unido. Es correcto?.

Steve: Estaremos en Selfridges en el Reino Unido a mediados de octubre, actualmente estamos viendo paises de sudamerica, Estados Unidos, Canada, Japon, Italia, Alemania, Suecia, Francia, Mexico, Portugal, España, Corea, China, Rusia y Dinamarca. Liam tambien visitara los paises para apariciones en las tiendas para promover la marca...

L: Los productos de las tiendas seran diferentes a los que estan en internet o sera mas o menos de la misma coleccion?
Steve: Diferente, es lo que llamamos la Coleccion premier. La razon por la cual empezamos con la pagina de internet, fue para que todos pudieran accesar, porque la popularidad de Liam es mundial. No queriamos abrir una Tienda en Inglaterra y excluir a todos los demas alrededor del planeta, de esta manera todos tienen una oportunidad de usar Pretty Green. La estrategia de las tiendas siempre ha sido estar en el lugar en donde se encuentra la demanda.

Liam: Actualmente Ya tenemos otras cosas para las tiendas, y hemos estado trabajando en eso por los ultimos 4 meses y esta exelente...!!

L: Has pensado en sacar algo que tenga tu foto?
Liam: Quizas, no me molestaria si eso pasara, tendriamos que ver como seria la foto. Quiero dirigir claramente mi barco de carreras, que ya a estado mucho tiempo por ahi...

L: Has pensado en sacar algunos accesorios como lentes de sol o cinturones?
Liam: Sii haremos de todo, vamos a hacerlo. Primero veremos como nos va con la ropa. Tenemos este sofa redondo de cuero, que se abre, tiene la forma de un "Blanco",hecho en Italia, Con el logo de Pretty Green en medio y esta exelente !!

L: Has pensado en hacer una linea para Mujeres, no se quizas pedirle a Nicole algunas ideas?
Liam: Si, ya veremos, ya veremos, no quiero empezar a meterme en eso aun... Ella podria diseñar un abrigo o algo asi, Yo no se nada de ropa de mujeres, Me gusta cuando las mujeres se visten muy apropiadamente, sabes a lo que me refiero?, no me gusta el stiletto y ese tipo de mierda, pero ya veremos, veremos...

L: Cual es tu articulo preferido de la Linea y porque?
Liam: El mio es la Parka, porque ya no te puedes encontrar de esas actualmente, porque todos hacen PARKERS muy lujosas que cuestan alrededor de £900 libras y simplemente lucen mal, son mierda. Esta es como mas retro, asi que es mi favorita, las camisetas y las bufandas estan muy bien, y las camisas de Polo, que sacaremos muy pronto estan increibles. Y las botas desert que obviamente no las puedes conseguir asi.

L: Y que es lo que piensan los otros miembros de la banda sobre la linea de ropa?
Liam: A todo el mundo le gusta, Acabo de darle a Noel sus prendras gratis, aunque las use o no, o si las tira a la basura, ya veremos no crees?

L: Entonces se los dieron gratis?, no tuvieron que pagar por ello?
Liam: Si, habia dicho que no le dieramos nada, pero tienes que darle algo... Pero a todos les encanta...

L: En el video que hiciste en Brighton, para el lanzamiento de Pretty Green, pudiste manejar la motocicleta que fue usada en Quadrophenia o solamente posaste en ella?
Liam: Si lo hice, maneje la Jimmy, No la de Sting no maneje esa, pero la Jimmy si...

L: La cancion Man Of Misery, fue escrita especialmente por el lanzamiento de Pretty Green?
Liam: No, la escribi un par de años atras, entonces usamos la cancion de Pop Levi, despues necesitabamos una cancion diferente para el nuevo corto, Pense no le voy a dar mas credito porque se volvio un poco raro con el dinero y cosas asi, pense eso no sirve, Tengo esta cancion que ha estado ahi sabes?, No pienso que vaya con lo de Oasis y porque no, es solamente un demo pero parece que encaja bien con la vibra...

L: Planeas lanzarla como algo promocional?
Liam: Lo dudo, creo que se quedara donde esta hasta que OurKid la escuche, y le guste y le agregue cosas que puedan hacer que este en un album de Oasis, supongo que si, pero no lo se, lo dudo...

L: Tu pasion es por la musica y la ropa, los cortes de cabello tambien deben de venir con eso, cual es tu corte de cabello favorito que has tenido en estos años?
Liam: Que he tenido...No lo se, me gustan todos o no me los hubiera hecho, pero solamente el normal, no se si haya un nombre para el, pero nose, me gustan todos. Me gusta cambiar de vez en cuando, me gustaba el de forma de tazon, eso fue un par de meses atras, estaba un poco adelantado a su tiempo. Me gustan todos si no no me los hubiera hecho.

L: Como va a el tour hasta ahora, despues de lo que paso en Manchester?
Liam: Exelente, pero he pensado en Manchester, despues de los tres conciertos cuando miras atras a la primera noche, fue una mierda. Todo el mundo estaba emocionado y cosas asi. No creo que nadie deberia estar esperando alrededor de 40 minutors en el frio por una banda de este tamaño... Si pasa en un club entonces, esta bien la mierda pasa. En donde estamos nosotros no deberia pasar, entonces alguien tenia que ir a decir que el concierto es gratis ahora. No se de que bolsillo saldra eso, pero no sera el mio. En fin, despues de eso y los siguientes dos conciertos salieron bien y las disfrute. De hecho, prefiero la primera noche para serte honesto, Me gusta cuando mierda pasa en los conciertos de Oasis de otra manera es el mismo concierto realmente.

L: Fuimos a Manchester cuando se rompio la barrera.
Liam: Si, me gusta la mierda como esa, mientras nadie muera o se lastimen o les de fiebre porque esta muy frio, me gusta cuando mierda asi pasa, porque una vez que has visto a Oasis por primera vez, ya habras visto que no hacemos mucho ahora, si sabes a lo que me refiero.

L: Entonces si Noel decide tomarse 5 años de descanso, vas lanzar musica por tu cuenta o te vas a concentrar en la moda?.
Liam: Voy a ir a quitarle mis malditas camisetas!!....Yo no lo llamaria moda, Odio a todo lo que se refiere a la moda. Yo odio a la moda. Yo no estoy haciendo moda, yo solo hago la ropa que me gusta y que quiero usar, pero no me voy a tomar 5 años de descanso, probablemente hare esto o hare musica, porque estoy en Oasis y asi es como funciona. No quiero hacer nada mas pero supongo que hare un poco de esto y descansar en casa, sabes ?

L: Te gusto venir a Gales y tocar en Cardiff?
Liam: Me gusta cuando entremos por Nowt, si. No se nada de eso de pagar para poder entrar, pero esta noche entramos por Nowt.

L: Eso fue sobre el puente?
Liam: Si, estabamos atrapados en el trafico y la policia vino y nos ayudo entrar asi que eso estubo bien, teniamos listo nuestro dinero y todo, pero solamente quisieron ayudar, asi que los milagros si pasan.

L: Que es lo que piensas de la escena musical galesa?
Liam: Existe una?

L: Tenemos a Duffy, Tom Jones, The Peth...
Liam: No he escuchado los Peth, llegue tarde aqui, Me gusta Rhys, Me gustan Los Super Furry Animals y esas cosas, Stereophonics estan bien, Manic Street Preachers. Duffy ella estaba bien hasta que abrio su boca, su musica esta bien sabes? Digo hasta que hizo ese estupido anuncio y cosas asi.

L: Alguna vez has pensado en contar tu historia en una Autobiografia?
Liam: No

L: Seria interesante para leer.
Liam: Si, para mi no lo seria, me aburriria demasiado. Supongo que seria interesante, pero nunca se sabe, quien sabe, depende de que tan atrevido sea.

L: De todas las grandes canciones que has escrito, cual es tu favorita?
Liam: Que yo he escrito, o de todo Oasis?

L: Que tu has escrito
Liam: Yo, supongo que tendria que ser 'Out Of Time' esa esta bastante bien, o Songbird, (Si no Nicole me mata!!!).
